Hi, I'm Mark.
I've spent 18 years behind a camera. Flipturn is the video team I built so companies don't have to hire one.
Most of what I do is simple: I help companies tell their story on camera, consistently, without the hassle of briefing a new crew every time. Clients tend to say I feel like an extension of their team. That's the whole idea.
The work behind the work.
The camera has taken me some remarkable places. I've filmed MLB legends Albert Pujols and Adam Wainwright, worked with Porsche, the NCAA, and Riley Children's Hospital, and had work run in The New York Times and presented to the White House Cabinet (and the President).
But the projects that stay with me are the ones that change something. I once sat down to interview a man in prison and realized, only after I got there, that he was my childhood friend's killer. I filmed men in maximum-security prison training service dogs for ICAN, work that raised over $80,000 and, as one of them put it, changes lives at both ends of the leash. I've documented foster care reform in Mexico, ridden across Patagonia filming Fireflies for kids with cancer, and captured Afghan refugees in their first free moments after fleeing the Taliban.
That's why I picked up a camera in the first place. The commercial work funds the work that matters most, and both make each other better.
When I'm not shooting.
I'm usually on a bike or in the water. I'm a two-time Ironman and nine-time Half-Ironman finisher, with a trip to the 70.3 World Championship along the way. I live in Carmel with my wife Ashley and our dog, Tucson. And yes, that was me on snare, center stage, for Madonna's 2012 Super Bowl halftime show.
